Audiology Services

Palmetto Audiology, we offer all styles of hearing aids, including IIC "Invisible In the Canal" and digital hearing aids available from all major manufacturers.  Our newest addition, the WOW! devices have proven to be successful at allowing patients to feel natural wearing their devices for extended periods of time. We also offer custom-made earplugs for musicians and hunters, swim plugs for children and adults, and hearing protection for those who work in noise. We have amplifiers for the telephone or TV, as well as other Assistive Listening Devices for you to try in our office.

Diagnostic Audiological Evaluation: The evaluation assesses an individual's hearing as well as the health and condition of the auditory pathways and surrounding anatomy. Procedures include otoscopy, middle-ear analysis, acoustic reflex testing, air and bone conduction pure tone threshold testing, word recognition/speech testing and otoacoustic emissions. Infants are tested using state of the art OAE and ABR testing procedures.

Hearing Aid Consultation: Those patients who report a hearing handicap as a result of their hearing loss will have the opportunity to participate in our Hearing Aid Assessment Program.

Hearing Aid Service & Repair: Hearing aid service and repairs are provided for most makes and models.

Earmolds, Hearing Protection, Custom made eartips for IPOD and Bluetooth: Custom earmolds, swim molds and hearing protection devices are available in various colors and materials with a complete guarantee of satisfaction. Earbuds too large for your earcanals? Try our custom mafe eartips to hold them in place for hours of listening enjoyment! (ear impressions required)

Cerumen (Ear Wax) Management : When warranted, cerumen may be removed from one's external auditory canal in the office with curettes, cerumenolytic drops and/or water irrigator. If removal is unsuccessful, patients will be referred to an otologist (physician specializing in care and treatment of the ear).

Medical Referral for Examination and Treatment: When audiological test results indicate a medical condition, patients are referred to their primary care physician or to an otolaryngologist for examination and treatment.

Counseling and Aural Rehabilitation: Those with hearing loss are helped to function more effectively in educational, occupational and social environments.

Assistive Listening Devices:
Amplified and hearing aid compatible telephones with visual display, television amplifiers, vibrating alarm clocks and more are available. Ask about getting your free telephone through the SCTEDP program.
